Palma De Mallorca airport can be a pretty terrifying place - wall to wall with Brits abroad on their way to Magaluf for the weekend (say no more). However, do not despair, there are many hotels in Mallorca that serve as the antithesis of the all-inclusive holiday resort (no shade, just not our personal cup of tea). The stunning Es Racó d'Artà is without a doubt one of these. Set in the hills just outside of the charming medieval town of Artá, surrounded by olive groves, this boutique-hotel-come-health-and-wellness-retreat is a stunning beacon of tranquility and calm on an island that has seen a meteoric rise in mass tourism over the decades. This working farm from the 13th century, which remains functional to this day, has been tastefully restored by Architect and designer Toni Esteva, with whitewashed walls, airy linens, and wooden and natural accents throughout. We spent most of our time drifting through the grounds in a spa robe, drinking herbal teas, and bopping between blissful massages, the sauna, and the pool. The lunch and dinner menus at the restaurant, Beni Axir, are very impressive, and breakfast is a culinary delight (included in the price of the room, of course). Service on the whole was wonderful - the only criticism here was with our welcome tour, which could have been a bit more informative. Our main criticism of this hotel is the rooms themselves. We booked a junior suite with a terrace and were disappointed to find the bed being two single beds pushed together with two separate duvets (a big no no in our books). The pillows were also far too soft for our liking. That aside, we were very impressed with this hotel and would highly recommend it for a blissfully relaxing summer getaway.
Top Tip: A visit to the spa is an absolute must.
