Piaule is an impossibly chic take on the cabin-in-the-woods concept, providing a minimalist, wood-paneled haven for frazzled New Yorkers seeking respite from the rat race. The cluster of 24 individual cabins overlook a vast swathe of woodland, whilst the lounge/ restaurant and spa are located a short walk away. The cabins themselves are comfortable and beautifully aesthetic, yet pared back. This seems to be a recurring theme throughout the hotel whereby the real essence of this place is to be truly connected to the natural world. Our sleep quality here was great and the food at the restaurant was excellent (do not sleep on the duck if it’s on the menu!). The spa is beautiful, complete with stunning views across the hillside. You won’t find a ton of extras at this place, but if you’re after a quiet weekend to unwind upstate, Piaule is the place to go.
Top Tip: Find your own tranquil corner to read a book with a cup of coffee. Treat yourself at the spa and enjoy a zen moment in the stunning pool. Cap off your day with a delicious farm to table dinner at the restaurant.
Local Gems (if you really feel like you need to leave this idyllic place):
