TEKANDA LODGE REVIEW:
Tekanda Lodge is kind of like a really boujee hostel for adults. The hotel, located just 5 minutes from the bustling coastal town of Ahangama, is run by a very friendly British couple who acquired the abandoned tea, cinnamon, and coconut estate and have breathed new life into the property. The rooms are minimally decorated, with natural wood prevailing throughout. Sleep quality was very good (think comfortable bed and pillows, great AC, mosquito net). Breakfast is included and includes an impressive array of both Western and Sri Lankan dishes. Lunch and dinner are available at an additional cost. Be warned, however, all meals are a set menu and served at a communal table - and whilst this may be an enjoyable experience for the extroverts amongst us, those of us who sometimes simply don’t want to converse immediately after waking up, may find it a bit much. There is an option to dine in your room if you really can’t handle the mingling, but this is also not ideal in our opinion. Having said that, there is something unique and memorable about sharing a dinner with a group of strangers with the sound of crickets chirping over long and winding late evening conversations. This is a beautiful hotel in an even more stunning location and every single person we met here was a true delight.
