THE LASLETT REVIEW:

The Laslett is a charming and historic boutique hotel located amongst a row of splendid white Regency-style buildings in the heart of Notting Hill, offering guests a quintessentially West London experience. The hotel is named after Rhaune Laslett - a local community activist and principal organizer of the Notting Hill Festival in 1966, which later became the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival. This homage to the rich history and culture of the area is woven throughout various areas of the hotel experience, particularly in the extensive artworks and books that line the walls of the restaurant and lounge areas. The service is friendly and personal, and the food in the restaurant is good, although we did find that the breakfast options were generally better than dinner. The bed is comfortable and the rain shower had a good pressure to it, but our room was very small (we stayed in the Spare Room Double) - so small in fact that a standard sized hold luggage could not be fully opened without blocking the doorway to the bathroom. Some of the bedroom decor felt a little bit tired (although maybe this was just our room), and the rosemary soap was far too pungent for our liking. The hotel does have a spa and offers a range of monthly events, although we did not experience any of these. All in all, this is a nice hotel in a great location (slap bang on the central line), but we couldn’t help but feel that the bedroom decor and overall vibes were just a tad disappointing, thus resulting in a somewhat lukewarm score.

Top Tip: If you enjoy a good ol’ knees up, time your trip to coincide with the world famous Notting Hill Carnival (yearly on the last August Bank Holiday weekend) and experience one of London’s most lively cultural events.
