THE STANDARD LONDON REVIEW:

To date, our experience with The Standard hotel chain has been pretty damn good. In our opinion, this chain has design, vibes, comfort, and little extras on lock. After a glittering experience in Bangkok (check out full review here), we were excited to try out their Kings Cross, London branch to see if it lived up to the hype. First things first, it’s important to note that this hotel has several windowless rooms (yes, you heard us right). These cave-like rooms are admittedly nicely decorated and ours did have a beautifully comfortable king bed and kooky jungle-esque rain shower. However, if you like seeing daylight we would recommend avoiding these rooms. We were able to move after our first night without any issue, and transparently, we were thrilled at the prospect of not living like Gollum for the entirety of the trip. Once we were out of the darkness and into a regular room with actual windows we did have a very pleasant stay. As with all The Standard branches, fun, poppy design presides, with retro nods and 70s colorways throughout each space. The bed was beautifully comfortable, the restaurant food was very good, and the room service was 10/10. The location is unbeatable, being a stone's throw away from Kings Cross and St Pancras Stations. Once again, The Standard proves that it is a solid overall choice.

Top Tip: Triple check that your room is not the Cozy Core room as these are windowless!
