INNESS REVIEW:
If you’ve lived in New York City for more than 6 months you’ll know that an upstate getaway is an absolute must for the sake of your sanity. However if you think your wallet is going to be taking a break you can think again. INNESS comes with a hefty price tag and therefore, the expectations were high. And whilst this is a beautiful property with lots on offer, we couldn’t help but feel that we could’ve gotten more bang for our buck.
The property is located in a stunning valley with views of the rolling hills of the Catskills. It’s within close proximity to some of the most buzzing towns in the area including Kingston, Woodstock and New Paltz. That said, you probably won’t want to venture out all that much as INNESS does a great job of satiating all of your R&R needs. The hotel is split into individual cabins and a newly built farmhouse that emulates the architecture of traditional Hudson Valley properties. The rooms are comfortable and spacious but a bit lacking at this price point - expected items such as tissues and plugs next to the bed weren’t readily available. The walls are also thin enough to hear the goings on of your next door neighbours - be warned. The spa is nice, but small, and can get crowded which strips away an essential layer of serenity. The treatments are good, but for the hefty pricetag (think $300 for a 60 minute massage), we expected a top tier experience which transports us into another dimension, and unfortunately, it fell short of that. The hotel is very pet and child friendly which makes it a great destination for big families, however, it also means that it can get busy and loud. The food is excellent and the restaurant is a destination in and of itself. There’s also a golf course, tennis court and ample walking options to keep you busy and out in nature. That said, if you’re looking for a more serene, romantic upstate experience, we’d recommend heading to Piaule instead. Check out our review here.
